If you feel like you've been missing Game of Thrones, HBO has a big new series in store With the bitter taste of the final season out of our mouths, we can start to get excited about the forthcoming prequel, entitled House of the Dragon, which should arrive on August 21 on HBO and HBO Max.&; If there was a sense of justice or morality underpinning the world, House of the Dragon would be a train wreck. The existence of the Game of Thrones prequel series is, like the impending Amazon Lord of the Rings series, a foreboding statement about the dominance of intellectual property in today’s media landscape. The show’s existence is wringing blood from a Dragonstone, and by all play home gameplay rights, it should be a failure. The world of ice and fire is expanding to lengths we never could have guessed – and I am here for the ride. Bring on the dragons, betrayals, and new fantasy worlds! The real question is: are all of these spinoffs going to be done before George R.R. Martin finishes The Winds of Winter? More dragons may be on screen before Winds is on bookshelves, but the world of Westeros and beyond isn't going anywhere if HBO continues moving forward on these projects.&;
